Old School Mix

Girl Talk dropped his new album "All Day" the other day... I probably won't be posting any of that. Worth mentioning though, he took almost two years to finish it, and it's a semi-dope album if you're into hyperdrive mash ups. (You can DL it here.)

However, today I'm chosing to post about a couple of mixes that came out a few years ago. I stumbled back into one of my first favorite mixes a few days ago, and got caught up in a nastalgic playlist that I used to run a while back. Their mostly old school songs that have been vamped up for todays crowd, but are easy to dive into. I'm kickin it off with my personal favorite mix, the Soulwax mix of "You can't always get what you want." Just let it roll.

This next track came out about a year ago. It's a Twelves mix of the 80's hit Take on me. Not quite as catchy as the original, but nice and upiddy for todays music.

This is just straight fun. The Police's "Roxanne" mixed by Discotech. Jump up and get down:

I wish I could take off all the little comments on this one, but it's the only DL-able one I could find. It's a little crazy for those not keen to dub, but it's mix of serene vibes and crazy beats makes me love it. It's a Good Vibrations mix by the Stanton Warriors. Dig it

Again, I wish I could take the comments off, but I can't. (You can if you just click the little talk bubble in the bottom right corner). This is a smooth Fugee's "Ready or Not" dub remic by Cillo. Sexy, fun, and real. Perfect.

Cozzed a Frenzy

Bassnectar Family Photo.
God damn: what a weekend. Bassnectar was an absolute party, as he always is. But blended with a healthy mix of great people and a beautiful city, he was near leathal. With an ungodly setlist and a bumpin' venue (electric factory), it was some of the most fun I've had all semester. Thanks Philly for showing this CT kid a good time, you all know who you are.
I gotta unleash the dub in this post, so those who aren't friendly with explosive beats, watch out.

I'll start off easy: Lorin Ashton unleashed this in the middle of the set, although he clearly improvised it to fit the electric factory. Awesome song, it's a Fever Ray mix that always puts a smile on. Careful though, this a' rocket launcher right here:

I also gotta throw this next one into the mixer. I have to say, Beats Antique killed it. Almost unseen heros of the show on Friday. Here's a mix that Bassnectar created when he did some work with Beat's Antique (I think 2008?). Love it, just a circus of a track:

Alright, here's where it gets a little crazy. This one got thrown down a little before half way through the set. It was a shit show of a song. Ashton whomped it the fuck out. My personal favorite song of the set.

Just to break it up a bit, so I'm not completly fixed on the show from Friday, I'm gona toss one of my more recent favorites out there. This is a Jamrock Dubstep mix by Savoy. Get wild with it.

To close it out, I'm gona put down a Diplo mix. Beautiful song, Four Floors by sunday girl. Dive inside and swim around in it.

Thanks again to everyone who was there in Philly. We gotta do that again sometime soon.
