Glitch Mob Preview

So less than a week ago, the "Glitch Mob" released a preview for their new album (release date unknown) that only they would do. It's a dubby remix of the tropical theme from The Little Mermaid. Now bare with me, because it sounds better than that reads. The steel drums from the original reverberate around the track, while the simple dub loops fill out some of the bubbly space of the song. Don't forget that their last album was Drink the Sea, so who knows what the implications of this preview are.

Todays edition brings us some ambient vibes from the field of chillout/triphop. With serene sounds and vibrant echoes, it's easy to sit back, do what you gotta do, and enjoy music. These tracks have the right amount of gritt and style balanced with an air of grace and flavor. Put them on when you need some background noise, or when you're doing work, and you'll find yourself in a good place.

Copy, Transform, Combine: Everything is a Remix

So I've always had a small beef with remixes. I took the mass tag approach of considering a remix to just be stolen work. However, I just recently finished watching the free online series of Everything Is A Remix. This four part series, created by Kirby Ferguson, takes a massive scoped look at how we come to create new ideas, and how the use of previous ideas spawn innovation. Ferguson, being a complete bro, has set it up all for free, to share, use, and recreate. It's a phenomenal series that I would highly recommend for anyone to take some time and sit down, watch it, and love it of hate it. 

So c'mon, we all have those remixes that we secretly love. Today I'm going to post up some of my guilty pleasures, including both mash-ups and mixes. Henjoy.

Fresh Start

It's been a long time since I fired up the blog. My past year of hibernation has kindled a new taste and style for music, which we should see develop over the next couple months. However, after having a good discussion with Sian-Pierre Regis, the creator of http://swaggernewyork.com/music/, I've been re-inspired to pursue my blogging ambitions. For now, just a simple post on a song that's been getting noise recently. It's featured in a citibank commercial, and it is both infectious and tasty. The song is called "Into the Wild" by LP.
